Hello Principal Shimon, AP Batey, and AP Prociuk,
I hope this note finds you well. My name is Ilana Marder-Eppstein and I am the School Garden Specialist for Chicago Public Schools. I am a part of the CPS Garden Team in the Office of Student Health and Wellness along with my manager, Micheal Newman-Brooks, Program Manager of School Gardens. We work to support school gardens and growing efforts across the district to increase food literacy and access to greenspace in our schools.
We are organizing a city-wide Greening and Growing Summit this spring. The goal of the summit is to amplify educators' knowledge of garden and nature education and create a nexus of sustainability educators in the Chicagoland area.
The organizers of the conference are Chicago Public Schools, Openlands, Advocates for Urban Agriculture, and Healthy Schools Campaign and we are currently looking for a venue for our summit.
I was wondering if Prosser would be interested in hosting this summit? It would be a fabulous opportunity to highlight all the amazing growing initiatives at your school. I've listed more details about the event below:
Date: Saturday, May 6th 2023
Time: 9am-5pm
Estimated number of participants: 450 attendees
Thank you for considering this request. Please let me know if this is of interest, happy to set up a follow up meeting to discuss more details if so!
Warmly,
--Ilana Marder-Eppstein
