Collegiate Scholars Program (CSP)
Founded in 2003 and operated through the University’s Office of Civic Engagement, CSP is a free three-year enrichment program that prepares talented Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students from diverse backgrounds for admission and success at highly selective colleges.
- CSP is shaped around a core curriculum of humanities, social science, math, and science courses.
- During the summer months, scholars are taught by University of Chicago faculty and PhD students.
- Enrichment activities during the academic year are geared toward college readiness, leadership development, and more.
The strongest candidates are typically ranked in the top 10% of their class, enrolled in academically rigorous classes (Honors, AP, IB if these courses are available), and are willing to learn and share their ideas with others. Chicago Public Schools 9th grade students can apply to the Collegiate Scholars Program here. Deadline is Fri. Feb. 7th.
Space Explorers is a free multi-year science enrichment program offered by the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics (KICP) in partnership with the University of Chicago Office of Civic Engagement. The program gives participants the opportunity to interact with university faculty, staff, students; engage with college-level math, science, and computer science course work; take part in lab tours; meet and work with astronomers and physicists; and develop skills for high school, college, and beyond. Chicago Public Schools 9th – 11th grade students can apply to Space Explorers here. Deadline is Fri. Feb. 7th.
