Local School Council Student Representative Elections

The Local School Council (LSC) is the governing body of a CPS school. In high schools, a complete LSC has the following 15 members:

Principal
Two Teachers
One Non-Teaching Staff Member
Six Parents
Two Community Members
Three Students

The LSC is responsible for approving the school’s academic improvement plan (CIWP), approving the alignment of the budget to the CIWP, engaging in the annual evaluation of the principal’s professional practice and selecting or renewing contract principals.

The LSC meets typically one time per month, though in the spring when the CIWP and budget are being approved and in contract renewal years, there may be additional meetings in the spring.

Student representatives are responsible for sharing student voice in LSC decision making.

Students serve for one year, from July 1 until June 30.

The nomination period is from January 23, 2023 through February 3, 2023.

Students write the Student Candidate Statement From 4S-23 or the Candidate Statement Form 4-23. All Candidate Statements will be posted.

The election will be held during the week of February 6, 2023. There will be a Candidate Forum on Monday, February 6 @ 4:05 in the Auditorium. All students are invited to attend. The election will take place during English classes on Friday, February 10. Every student in the school has the right to vote or not vote in this election.
